SUSTAINABILITY
At Syva Apparel, we aim to always share our sustainability journey with honesty and be as transparent as possible. From who we source from, to where our clothing is manufactured and how we use our profits to benefit our communities. Everything we do has an impact on our planet.
MATERIALS
Packaging
One of our first priorities was figuring out who could provide us with high-quality, eco-friendly packaging. After we discovered NoIssue,, we joined their eco packaging alliance.
But what does that mean?
We have pledged to only use mailers, whether made of Kraft or Poly, that are made from 100% recycled materials and are recyclable or home compostable after they are no longer needed (after you open your package.) Look for either of these designs on your packages when they arrive, to know we are sticking to our pledge.
Fabric
Possibly our biggest obstacle throughout this journey.
Finding suppliers in North America who care about their responsibility to society as a large corporation was no easy task. However, our breakthrough came when we discovered the friendly people of KenDor in Canada.
Specializing in sustainable and socially responsible textiles, even virgin materials (like organic cotton or synthetic fibers) are sourced with care and can be traced back to the first step in its production.
Some of the current fibers we use are:
XT2TM Poly:
A synthetic fiber made by combining silver with polyester. The silver's naturally antimicrobial and anti-odor qualities are woven throughout the entire product. It is not a chemical formula or finish treatment, so it never washes out. Only a small portion of this fiber is needed in the overall blend of the fabric to get its full benefits.
100% Recycled Poly:
As you probably guessed, this is made up of purely recycled material. Recycled polyester decreases our dependence on virgin petroleum-based materials. This is a huge breakthrough in the textile industry, as recycled polyester is lightweight, dries quickly, versatile, and most importantly, durable. Perfect for a hard workout.
NaiaTM Acetate Fiber:
Is a fairly new fiber in the industry, but probably one of the coolest ones we have run into. NaiaTM is sourced from sustainably managed wood pulp and is even certified as being biodegradable and compostable. This is the best of both worlds, sustainable yet technical. No compromises here.
Lycra:
Similarly to XT2TM poly, this synthetic blend only requires a small percentage of it to be used to provide maximum benefit. Lycra's main responsibility is to add elasticity, keeping you feeling free when moving around.
MANUFACTURING &
COMMUNITY
Manufacturing
We care about how our products are made, and are proud to say that all of our apparel is designed, tested, and manufactured in the US. We design and test all of our gear in Austin, TX, and have full-scale production done in Los Angeles.
By working with Lefty Productions and Stitch Texas, we have great confidence in the quality of our clothing.
You can rest easy knowing that we do not use questionable overseas labor just to make a profit.
Community
Our first official partnership is one we truly believe in. An organization that goes beyond helping the environment.
Trees for the future trains farmers in agroforestry and sustainable land use, so that they can grow vibrant regional economies, thriving food systems, and a healthier planet.
For every shirt we sell, giveaway, donate, or send out to our gear testers, we donate 4 trees. Through this partnership, Syva Apparel is committed to supporting the welfare of our planet and creating a more sustainable future for future generations.
